Blogging in College: Do or a Don’t? You Decide

Blogging can be a good way to brand yourself. It can help you show the Web – and the world – what’s important to you, what you believe is important in today’s society. People will see who you are just from reading your blog, and it’s a great way to network and build relationships. However, maintaining blog etiquette is something very important to keep in mind.

Landing an internship or a job is something all college kids want, and yet having job-appropriate information on the internet is not always something college kids keep in mind.

But why would we? It’s in our culture to post a joke or an embarrassing moment up online. Technology is a part of our everyday lives and we like to share our lives with the world.

Sharing everything however, is not always the best idea.

In your blogs, try to think about how you are presenting yourself to your audience.
Good communication and writing skills will show your audience you are smart.
Sharing your ideas will show that you are creative and updating your blog will show that you are committed to what you really care about.

Think about how your blog will promote you in a positive way. If you are cautious about posting something on your blog, then it is probably a good idea not to.

Focus on getting your name out there and really establish credibility within your blog before rambling out controversial issues and ideas that could in the end, hurt your chances for an internship.
