Single College Ladies Beware: The Countdown to Valentine’s Day Has Begun

By Jennifer Werner, Student at Radford University

Valentine’s Day can be the most romantic of holidays, but it can also be a girl’s worst nightmare. With images of happy in-love couples gracing the covers of cards, magazines and posters, Valentine’s Day can seem more like Singles' Awareness Day.

This year, don’t let Valentine’s Day get you down. Instead, make it a fun-filled night out with all of your single friends!

Plan a Valentine’s Day party
Invite all of your single friends and enjoy a few Valentine’s Day treats. Have all the guests bring a little gift for a Secret Santa style gift swap or turn the night into a karaoke night.

Watch chick flicks
Every girl loves a sappy chick flick every once in a while, right? Why not invite all of your single ladies to a Hollywood movie night? While you all are watching your favorite girly movies, indulge in a few sweet treats. Who cares about the calories? On Valentine’s Day, you can treat yourself to copious amounts of chocolate, cookies and sweets. Don’t let your taste buds miss out on this holiday!

Spoil yourself!
Take the money that you would have spent on a lover and indulge yourself in a day of pampering. Get a manicure and pedicure or purchase that cute outfit or piece of jewelry that you have been eyeing every time that you walk into your favorite store. Why not show yourself a little love?

Why should dinner dates be just for couples?
Round up all of your friends for a night on the town; go to dinner and a movie or dance the night away at your favorite nightclub.

Just because you are single on Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean that you have to avoid Cupid and hide out alone. Dress up, get together with your friends and show yourself some love!
