Trend Report: Nude Nails

When it came to the Spring 2011 runway shows, what did Marc Jacobs, Monique Lhullier, Altuzarra, and Prabal Gurung have in common? No, not body-conscious styles in white contrasted with vivid neon accents (we know that was just what you were thinking). All four designers outfitted their models with beautiful nude nails, setting off a trend for pale manicures. The beautifully subtle look is a complete 180 from the dark, gothic shades of seasons past. But we're totally on board with the new look: not only can this mani be created with an endless combination of sheer and opaque shades, but it also hides that pesky chipping so obvious with darker hues. Here are our favorite sexy, peachy, girly, glowing nail colors— it’s the classiest way to step out in the nude.

MAC Nail Lacquer in Blissed Out ($12) This light apricot shade is from the makeup experts’ Warm & Cozy collection. During these cold winter days, it’ll have you feeling just that.

Lippman Collection in I'm Not Innocent ($16) The peachy tone of this polish exudes a barely-there sexiness— layer it on or stick with one sheer coat.

Chanel Nail Vernis in Inattendu ($23) The Chanel name is synonymous with class, and this dusty pink shade fits the bill. The sophisticated polish puts the French in French manicure.

Sephora by OPI in Going Nude, Eh? ($9)- Think of OPI and Sephora as beauty’s power couple: no matter what they do, including this creamy opaque lacquer, it’s never less than perfection.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Sheer Me Now Crème ($7.99)- The most authoritative name in nails has created the perfect milky shade of cream— it’s not pink, it’s not peach, but flawlessly, naturally nude.
