Website Could Help You Finance Your Education
By Briana Luca, Student at Iona College
As a college student, your wallet is constantly tight. Between tuition, books and everything in between, there is not a lot of breathing room. Jobs for full-time college students are a rare occurrence, so the situation is just made worse.
Well what if I said there was a way that you could have enough money for everything you need during your college years without the hassle of an actual job? I know, it sounds like a complete dream come true … and it just might be.
GoEnnounce.com is a place where students can create a page, post their academic achievements and then invite friends and family to get updates on their education. If students want, they can start a mission, which is where the fundraising comes in. The people who support the student’s page can begin to donate to their cause, whatever they need — whether it’s money for books or a trip they want to take.
I spoke with a new user, 19-year-old Cassandra, who attends American University. She had only good things to say about GoEnnounce.
She first heard about it when her sister was working PR for GoEnnounce and thought that it would be a good idea to start a mission.
“As a college student, I don’t have a lot of money. A website that tries to help kids fundraise as much as possible for anything, whether it’s books, tuition or trips is super helpful, so I really liked that," she said.
Cassandra has been using GoEnnounce for two weeks and has started her mission to raise money for a trip.
It seems that GoEnnounce is too good to be true. I think that the one problem students will run into on this site is people not donating. If they are able to get the word out, and people will donate to missions, then there is no problem. It’s a matter of getting people to actually go to the site AND have them donate. Otherwise, I think that this is something that could help a lot of students.
There are only good intentions here, so if GoEnnounce has the power to spread across the Internet, get students to create missions and get people to donate to those missions, there is no reason that this can’t work.
Have you used GoEnnounce or a website similar to this to raise money? Let me know in the comments!
