What to Wear Where? (Holiday Edition)

By Laura Iglehart, Student at Georgetown University

The holidays are a great time to see family members and enjoy your time together. But what happens when you're clueless about what you should wear to all the different events? I've got you covered!

Sorority Formal
Long dresses are great but can often get make dancing difficult. Look for a short (but not too short) dress or skirt to pair over tights and comfortable pumps. Sparkles are always great for the holiday season, but leather is also a trendy way to mix up your outfit. Try a leather-paneled dress or a leather skirt with a silky top for a fun textured holiday look.

Christmas
After dressing up on Christmas Eve, nothing is better than celebrating Christmas morning in the most casual of clothes like pajamas! But if you happen to be going out for Christmas dinner or to a relative’s house (or perhaps caroling), opt for something more sophisticated than pajamas, like a pair of black jeans, a white button-down shirt, a cropped navy blazer and boots (my go-to Christmas outfit). I like to top it off with my grandmother’s mink coat for a little pizzazz, but I keep accessories to a minimum.

New Years Eve
I’m all about the jumpsuit — a classy and fun alternative to the standard shiny NYE garb. Go for black and look for interesting necklines and pant styles to jazz it up. Accessorize with a stack of bangles or a chunky necklace and heels. Don’t forget to add some red lipstick for when the clock strikes midnight!

Now that you've got some advice on what to wear where, all you've got to do is enjoy your holiday break. Happy travels!
