Studying abroad is a wonderful experience! It allows you to learn about a new culture & way of life! Also you never know what you may see or who you might meet! It is a great way to expand your knowledge and education and makes you a great candidate for potential jobs by showing your adaptability & acceptance to new ideas & experiences.

If you are considering traveling abroad and are lucky enough to do so here are my top 5 dream destinations for where you should go and what each has to offer!

Three things you want to keep in mind when deciding where to go:

– Go where you feel comfortable

– Consider affordability or if you know the language, also who you may be traveling with or what type of “program” it is

– Decide where you want to immerse yourself in the culture…follow your passion and heart

1. London, England

The first place I chose was London. I’ve always been fascinated by the culture, art, as well as the mix of past history and 21st century modernity that London has to offer.

England has many great universities where you can study politics, history, literature, and pretty much any subject that may interest you. I also have a great love for the royal culture since I was a little girl and many musical influences and talent in the entertainment industry that I love that hales from the UK. Also, English people have a great sense of style and a unique look that sets many trends in the fashion world and especially here in the U.S.

One cool thing to check out while your there is the annual Thames River festival which takes place in September and celebrates ten days of fun, art, music and participation events celebrating the River.

2. Paris, France

The next place I chose was Paris because I grew up studying French in high school and college and would love to put my “French skills” or lack thereof to use! All kidding aside who wouldn’t want to study and live in what is known as one of the most romantic cities in the world! Paris is know for it’s beautiful architecture, food/wine, and beaches and supreme classic elegance in both the beauty/fashion worlds.

I would love to visit the famous Love Padlocks that adorn the bridge at the ‘Pont des Arts’ where many people choose to “lock away their love” as well as the iconic “Eiffel Tower” and “Notre Dame Cathedral” as well as the beautiful shops and cafes that make up this fantastic city.

3. Greece

I chose Greece because while I’m not 100 percent Greek their is some small lineage in our family & of course I want my ‘Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants’ moment like Lena had with all the beautiful landscapes and romance which I sure many of you remember from your early high school years.

In all honesty though, the scenery and its history is absolutely breathtaking as are the waters!… and the food is said to be amazing!

Many students who have previously studied abroad in Greece have noted that they have been treated very kind by the “locals” who want to make a good impression on students visiting to study abroad.

According to the study abroad travel site StudyAbroad360.com which is a fantastic resource for researching your study abroad prospects “The culture of Greece is one that has evolved over the course of thousands of years, through many of the most well-known and widespread eras and civilizations in history. Greece has longstanding, celebrated traditions in creative areas like art, architecture and literature, including the first recorded works in the Western literary tradition by Homer and Hesiod. Despite rich ancient legacies in creative areas, Greece has a strong modern literary movement. Greece has also made many significant contributions to math, science and philosophy – most students are familiar with the work of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.”

4. Ireland

Ireland  was another  popular choice because I always heard of its beauty and would love to experience the lush greenery and Irish traditions and folklore up close & personal. Ireland is an island nation and is filled with things that make it a popular destination for students studying abroad.

The Irish have a very strong education system and are known for their “academic excellence” as they have produced.four Nobel Laureates in Literature. Their universities are made up of many different backgrounds including students from the UK who are familiar with the “common language”. Dublin, the country’s capital, is said to be very lively and vibrant and is at the epicenter of the Irish economy.

Ireland is of course famous for its pubs, which are quite popular with students, but there are many other hidden treasures it holds such as the beautiful castles and churches to enchant you with!

5. Italy

Last, but certainly not least is Italy! Italy has always been a dream as well! Who wouldn’t want to experience the amazing food, culture, & art the Italian culture has to offer!

It’s famous cities Rome, Venice, and Florence each has something unique to offer and along with it’s famous art culture and delish mouth watering food. Its operas are said to be some of the best in the world. It is a great place to experience old-world charm and beautiful cobblestone streets.

Italy is known for it’s chic style with of course Milan being one of the fashion capitals of the world & beautiful Jewelry craftsmanship.

As far as education is concerned Italy is the perfect place for art history majors and they are constantly looking to improve high education through reforms. Other types of popular study include sculpture, literature, religion, and philosophy.

I would love to have the opportunity to make a wish at the Trevi Fountain which is one of the most beautiful and famous fountains in the whole world and is a very popular tourist attraction as well as the Vatican city which is of course home of the Pope.

I hope my list inspires you to find the destination of your dreams to study and travel in; bon voyage!
