Confessions of a College Woman

Here’s yet another confession from a Rutgers University (New Jersey) soon-to-be senior:

“I’m on a pre-med track and I plan to go straight to medical school after next year but I can’t stand the the sight of blood.”

Rajul’s Take – Do me a favor and please reconsider your intended choice of profession. This confession makes me think you might have been pressured into this field. How many of us really love what we are planning to do with our lives? How many of us are just going with what’s expected?

Sweetheart, if you really do love what you’re doing, than go for something in the non-surgery area of medicine that would require the least amount of gore. You’ll still have to handle surgical rotations but it’ll be for a short time. Hey – the world does need a few more good psychiatrists.
