Dream of the Week: Sanovia Garrett

Each week, we will be featuring a Dream of the Week entry to help bring awareness to our #1000DreamsChallenge, a four week social media campaign.
The 1,000 Dreams Challenge is intended to help you fund those out-of-classroom opportunities (study abroad, internships, conferences, etc.) or educational expenses (graduate school exam fees, tech devices and books) that will help you reach your ultimate professional dream.
Here is Sanovia’s dream:
“As of May of 2014, I became a first gen college graduate. I received my BA in Org. Comm at Ball State University. Last August, I packed my car and for the first time, drove nine hours to Philadelphia. I survived making less than a $1,000 a month and began performing within the first week. It was certainly a dream come true. I even started a website and realized a storytelling movement was my calling. After my year of service with Americorps City Year Philly, I decided to become a graduate student at Eastern University. To say that faith has pushed me would be an understatement, all I can say is as far as you believe, that’s how far you’ll go. God, do I believe. Check out the hashtag #tht2say to follow my journey!”
Want to enter? We hope you do! Here’s a step-to-step guide for how it works (it’s easy!):
-
The 1,000 Dreams Challenge invites our fans and followers to submit a photo (on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) using the hashtag #1000DreamsChallenge with a caption that best describes what they are doing to reach their career or professional dream.
-
Next, invite your friends, family and followers to vote for your submission
-
The five top-voted photos will become finalists at the close of the campaign on Monday, November 23rd.
-
The finalists will move forward to the final stage in which the 1,000 Dreams Fund team will pick the three winners. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, November 24th. One grand prize winner to receive a $1,000 grant along with two runners-up who will receive $500 each. The grants are intended to help winners fund their career goals and dreams.
