Get Inspired: Have a Picnic!

You’re not stressed are you? You probably don’t have 3 papers and 2 projects due within the next 36 hours, right? Finals? What are those?

It seems like just yesterday that it was cold and snowing, and before you know it, the winter weather will be creeping back on us once more. Although you may have a lot on your plate right now, a girl has to eat right? Why not take advantage of the beautiful weather and an opportunity to relax with friends and go on a picnic?

It can be a simple picnic in the park or a really elaborate romantic picnic with your boo. It’s all up to you. Either way, take a moment, relax and enjoy the great outdoors.

Pick a location: Think about nearby parks, and schools with playgrounds in your area. Chances are, they will have some sort of picnicking facility. Even your own backyard or a spot on campus may be the perfect location to spread out a blanket and enjoy a picnic.

Plan a menu: Transporting food is not always the easiest task. Keep your menu simple with sandwiches or another food that can be purchased pre-prepared or can be made in advance. Take-out is a good option for spontaneous picnics too.  Be sure to bring any utensils that may be needed to eat your picnic foods.

Have fun! If you have a dog, bring it with you and play fetch. Buy a kite at the dollar store and try flying it (be careful of trees), bring a book and read outdoors, blow bubbles or play hide and go seek, just like the old days.

While summer has just begun, it will be gone before you know it. Take the opportunity to be outdoors while the weather is nice and spend some quality time with your friends and family. Oh, and breathe! All of the finals and papers and projects will be over soon!
