Get Inspired: Lily Allen — Perfect Summer Music
I love the British. I mean, what’s not to love? These are the people who brought us the Spice Girls, Shopaholic books, Vivienne Westwood and Jude Law.
I rest my case.
Now, I admit that I am a little slow on all of the up and coming British imports, but my new love, straight from London, is Lily Allen. A friend of mine had her song LDN on a CD and I just could not get it out of my head. I went home and downloaded every single track available, and I am obsessed!!
Allen’s music is perfectly relaxing and great for summer windows-down karaoke sessions in the car. Her lyrics are real and at times, quite vengeful, which I happen to enjoy. Songs such as "Knock Em’ Out" and "Not Big" literally make me laugh out loud with their witticisms and humorous insults against the self–obsessed male.
The song "Little Things" is great for thinking about that guy you can’t quite get over and "Friday Night" is perfect for that skank who stole him from you. LDN and "Nan You’re A Window Shopper" are upbeat and quirky and will surely have you singing at the top of your lungs. Her latest hit, "Smile," is another great break-up song, but will have you thinking about flowers and sunshine the whole time.
I just love a good summer song, and well, if I can find an entire album or artist of summer songs, that’s even better! Check out Lily Allen on MySpace at www.myspace.com/lilymusic or on iTunes.
