Tonight they are predicting snow, sleet, and lots of obnoxious winter weather here in Blacksburg. I am sitting, cuddled up in my favorite purple quilt, praying that classes will be cancelled. Days like this give you things to look forward to like not having to defrost your car, vacationing somewhere tropical and shopping for spring!

Don’t get me wrong, I love my fabulous Steve Madden boots, but my toes long for a great pedicure, a perfect polish, and one of spring’s amazing new sandals.

This spring is all about the shoes, and shoes are making a bigger statement than ever with bold colors, flamboyant patterns, and crazy architectural elements. The wedge will be making another appearance this season, but with unusual geometric shapes and lots of vibrant florals.

Designers are taking a lot of risks this season, and spring will be a pivotal time for shoe lovers everywhere with abstract-shaped heels (pictured, Marc Jacobs), metallic embellishments, buckles, ankle straps, and gladiator styles (these were all over the runway, it should be interesting!). Look for shoes made of wood, metal, lucite, and our favorite fabrics, satin, and patent.

Instead of playing the role of “just another accessory” the shoes of the season will pop and be the key element in any fabulous outfit. Colors will include yellow, beige, khaki, and neutral tones, black and white, florals, polka dots, and my personal favorite, pink!
