Glimpse of Gorgeous: Spring Preview (Part II)

Do you remember when you were 5 and your mom used to dress you up in massive amounts of floral prints? I mean we are talking pansies, daisies, roses, and sunflowers in bright 80’s (early 90’s) colors, and dresses covered in garden vomit. Of course there were white tights (pink if you were lucky) and a super stylish hair bow to match.

Well, I am learning that if you hang around the fashion industry long enough, things come back around. Making its appearance for the second time in my life: Floral prints, and I can’t think of a better way to start Spring!

This seasons florals are a little more art nouveau, a little more sophisticated, a little less garden puke and they were everywhere on the runway.

Look for flowers particularly paired with silk, lace, puffed sleeves and other feminine detail. White flowers make a statement without offending the eyes and hand-painted designs add an artistic edge. Large flower prints are seemingly “all the rage”, try them with a watercolor effect. Pair a top with a pair of dark wash jeans or another solid color. Too much pattern is bad news!

April showers bring May flowers, but you’d be crazy to wait until May to start rocking this trend. Go ahead, relive your childhood. Buy a matching hair bow if it thrills you, and be GORGEOUS!
