Glimpse of Gorgeous: Swimsuit Picks for Summer 2008

Whether you have fair skin or have been tanning year-round, whether you love your thighs or have been on a diet since December, and whether you are ready or not, Summer 2008 has officially begun. With summer comes lounging by the pool and getting your tan on at the beach, and for those fabulous activities, you must have a fabulous swimsuit to wear. A Girl has got to look the part right?

For this season I am seeing monokinis everywhere. If you’ve got the body for it, and don’t mind the strange tan lines, then I say go for it. This suit is for women with more athletic bodies and a smaller chest, as it doesn’t offer much support or coverage. However, it is extremely chic, especially with a plunged neckline and in a solid color.

One swimsuit that will never go out of style is the bikini. It can be done 100 different ways, but a black string bikini is a no-fail option for summer. This seasons trends in swimwear include animal prints, floral patterns, and nautical themes. If you need more coverage, a bandeau top is a great alternative to the standard triangular cups and the skirted bottom is still in style this season for all of you worried about your thighs.

For a curvier figure or just a more modest suit, you’ve got to love the tankini. Because of its versatility, retailers are selling tankinis in all shapes and sizes. Again, an animal, floral, or nautical prints are very this season, but if you are looking for a more timeless look, try black, red, or a deep plum. Experiment with different cuts and necklines to find a suit that flatters your figure.

I know the thought of shopping for a swimsuit sounds about as fun as watching your next door neighbors tarantula, but remember that confidence is 1/2 the outfit. Now what are you waiting for? Grab a book, lounge by the pool in your new swimsuit and be GORGEOUS!
