Gossip Girl Recap: Teen Queens and Hollywood Threesomes

OMG! Our favorite upper east siders are heating up! This week’s highly anticipated Gossip Girl episode begins with Little J’s quest to find the perfect Cotillion escort; she wants to go with Graham Collins (the next Nate Archibald) but her minions are unable to make that happen.  Little J knows queens never give up and tells her followers to find a way to convince her dream escort to oblige. A cute little “unknown” girl named Kira, who also attends Constance, attempts to say “hi” to Jenny at Cotillion rehearsa,l but she’s brushed off (queens have little time for court jesters). In order to win over J’s affection, Kira tells her that she knows Graham personally and could get him to be her date. Knowing that this would send J into an even deeper spiral of evil, Eric decides to pull a Blair Waldorf and gets in the middle of the situation. Blair, who was offended when Jenny decided that she no longer needed her as her mentor for Cotillion because she thought she had bagged Graham, decided that she needed to find another way to make J’s life a living hell. Together, they craft a plan to make Jenny think that she was being escorted by Graham but pull a fast one on her and convince him to go with Kira instead. B’s plan to overthrow J fails when J (being the queen that she is) asks Nate to escort her! J, once a queen without a royal lineage, is now considered to be the envy of the entire Upper East Side. B is impressed and J lovingly attributes her quick thinking to learning from the best. Eric, on the other hand, is upset that his plan failed and when confronted by Jonathan about his sneaky ways, he admits to scheming only to “save” Jenny. Jonathan doesn’t buy it and says that he really dislikes the person Eric has become and breaks it off with him (or maybe he just breaks is off because he is tired of the dairy facials?).  Either way, Little J is back on top and Eric is now boyfriendless and sisterless. Looks like the joke is on him this time (but he swears that Jenny is going down!). Little J is back on top- for now!

Chuck and Nate also get crafty; they create a little scheme of their own to get Serena and Blair talking again. Their genius plan consists of trapping B and S in an elevator (luckily neither of them have an aversion to small spaces) and Chuck giving them instructions (a la “Charlie’s Angels” style) over the intercom. They are told to “work things out” and once they fix their problems they will be free to leave. S ends up telling B the entire store about her summer and how she went looking for her dad. She admits to being ashamed because her father did not seem to want to know her and says she is jealous of the relationship her friends have with there fathers (including Nate’s relationship with his deceitful father, which may seem odd but most of the relationships on this show are based upon lies so I suppose that makes sense). B seems as though she might cry (almost!) and her and S kiss and make up (not literally, although Chuck lets B know that it wouldn’t be cheating if she did- so generous). Everything is wonderful again in Blair’s fictional kingdom. S, on the other hand, has to deal with Tripp’s romantic feelings towards her. He hires her as an aide in his office, but lets her know that he might have made a mistake by doing that (married congressmen being attracted to younger aides- original!). B advises S to quit, but once S tells Tripp about her resignation, he quickly convinces her to stay because it is a “good opportunity” for her (or is it a “good opportunity” for him?). The episode wraps with Lilly finding a letter from Serena’s dad in the mail; wonder if he sent warm wishes or if it is just junk mail?

Finally, and most importantly, we address the issue of the “threesome” everyone has been talking about! Olivia is asked to do a fourth installment of “Endless Nights”  and if she signs on she would have to leave ASAP! In order to try to get her to stay at NYU and not do the movie (is it me or does that sound selfish?) Dan and Vanessa attempt to accomplish all the items on a list of “15 things you need to do before leaving college” to make Olivia realize that college is awesome. Olivia learns that they do all of the things on the list except for one: a threesome (naturally!). Being the go-getter that she is, Olivia dives right into that one and starts kissing Dan in front of Vanessa. Then she kisses Vanessa in front of Dan, and before you know it, Dan is KISSING VANESSA in front of Olivia (side note: this was VERY awkward!!). You can use your imagination and predict what happens next (which is what everyone had to do since they don’t show anything else!). The best part about this little sexual experiment is that Olivia decided that it would be fun to try a threesome since she was going away to shoot her movie the following week. SPOILER: The movie falls through and now all three of our favorite college students have to deal with the awkward situation that will ensue next week! I can hardly wait!
