H&M and Jimmy Choo Join Forces

The designer collaboration gods continue to shine down upon us. You’ve worn Alexander McQueen and Rogan care of Target, Roberto Cavalli and Matthew Williamson courtesy of H&M, Alexander Wang and Vena Cava at GAP, and if you’re lucky, maybe even Kate Moss for Topshop. But Jimmy Choo? That’s a name you probably never thought you’d hear.

Thanks to H&M, us mall-goers can soon snag our very own pairs of Jimmy Choos. The one-time collaboration between the British luxury shoe brand and Swedish mega-retailer hits stores November 14 and is being touted as “the ultimate party wardrobe.” Jimmy Choo is the first accessory company to collaborate with H&M, as well as being the only luxury shoe company to do a low-end collaboration at all. (Please, it might be an eternity before we see ourselves in Christian Louboutin red.)

According to the official press release the accessories line is a  “shoe-lovers dream,” with strappy stilettos, thigh-high boots, peep-toe booties and flat ankle boots. But the masses will also be treated to something Carrie Bradshaw never got: Jimmy Choo clothing. The collaboration will include clothes and accessories for both men and women, while the overall aesthetic is described as a “gloss goth feel” with lots of black.

So far, response to the impending collection has inspired the lots of excitement online, but upon first glance, I couldn’t decide if I found the pieces edgy and “rock and rollish,” or borderline tacky. (I would use the word “cheap,” but that that would be misleading — prices for the bags, shoes and clothes hover in the $200-400 range.)

Of course, I could be wrong. After all, Jimmy Choo is all about bold designs and explicit glamour— Louboutins and Manolos these are not.

While there are only a few pictures released online (such as here), there are sure to be more between now and November. The questions is: will you be waiting in line on November 14th to snare a pair?
