CheapChic Holiday Party Dresses

It’s hard to believe that in just three weeks, I’ll be living in New York City. I’m so ready to finally spend my days in the buzz of the Big Apple; I’ve been dreaming of this move for years! The downside?: New York is expensive. Living in this beautiful city certainly comes with a price tag.

Looking cute at holiday parties is always a priority, but right now, my budget is pretty limited. So I’ve pulled together a few looks that will wow the crowd without breaking the bank.

Skater dresses look great on EVERY girl’s body: feminine and flattering, and even a bit forgiving (holiday cookie bloat is a strong possibility.) And the only thing that’s better than a skater dress is a jacquard skater dress. Pull together a blazer, bangle bracelets, and a strappy pair of pumps for an effortlessly chic look. $48:

I am absolutely LOVING this light pink cocktail dress with delicate beading. Whether you’re meeting your boyfriend’s family, or spending time yours, a classic look like this will certainly impress everyone. Keep it fun with some chunky black ankle booties, or stick with a simple pair of flats if you prefer. $30:

Keep things elegant with this velvet dress. It reminds me of an adult version of my favorite party dress as a little girl (a velvet dress with Mary Janes of course.) The delicate detailing will keep you the center of attention without looking like a misplaced doily or centerpiece. Everyone will think you spent twice as much. $70

Metallic never looked so chic! The black and gold are subtle enough to make you shine without blinding the other guests. $60:

I love paisley, and in wine, it perfect for the holiday season! The shape on this dress will make you look flawless and the wool blend is thick enough for a chillier evening. Totally modern Mad Men. $65:

Of course, there’s always the sheath dress. Wear a simple, dark, fitted dress with a gorgeous statement necklace as the main attraction. $50: This Charming Charlie necklace is a perfect match that will catch everyone’s eyes. $30:

The beading at the bottom and the little cutout keep things interesting. Wear it out, or wear it at the family dinner — either way, you’re safe in this cute dress! $30

Maybe a bit less conservative, but this neckline is so bold next to the feminine skirt that it really looks beautiful. It’s simple but a bit unexpected. $55:

This is the perfect combination of two big trends, peplum and lace without overdoing it. Sophisticated. $44:
