Trend Report: Hottest Hoodies of the Season
When you have to pull yourself out of those snuggly sheets to face a day of classes in chilly winter weather, it’s hard to resist the allure of slipping on a cozy hoodie…and slipping into a cold-weather fashion rut. Hoodies are not typically synonymous with style, so I went on the search for hot hooded looks that are comfy, yet chic.
Classic: For a classic hoodie that works great for layering, check out the Truly Madly Deeply Boyfriend Hoodie available from Urban Outfitters ($29). It has a loose fit that screams comfort, but in four great shades it’s the perfect choice to coordinate with your fashionable favorites, like a dress with tights or skinny jeans and a stylish shirt. Zip it up over leggings and wear it as a tunic, too.
Feminine: The Raven Flannel Dress with hood by BB Dakota ($38) is a hoodie alternative. This plaid-flannel shirtdress has an adorable hood trimmed with sherpa fleece. Paired with leggings and winter boots like Uggs, it’s casual and cute, but the dress could easily be glamorized with a skinny studded belt and black booties.
Glam: Who says hoodies can’t be glam? Put the Juicy Couture Sequin Vest with Hood ($148) over a long-sleeved t-shirt or dress and you’ve got a sparkly hooded outfit for an evening out.
Bohemian: The We The Free Thermal Hoodie ($59.95) is a waffle knit thermal hooded zip-up embellished with metal studs. Available in turquoise and dark violent, the garment has an aged and faded look that is very bohemian (as is much of the clothing from We The Free’s mother brand, Free People). This has all the benefits of basic hoodie with a unique look.
Comfy: Nothing’s better than a versatile hoodie that you can wear to bed, the gym, and to class, like the Admiral Waffle Hoodie by Aerie ($34.50). This hoodie is both comfy and cute because it has a sailor-inspired look with nautical stripes and a military style button front.
