Hot Topic Thursday: Remembering Sandy West

While Thursday blogs generally cover things such as gossip, celebrity talk, and the like, we felt it was important to mention this today.

Sandy West (pictured 2nd from the right), the drummer of The Runaways, an incredibly influencial all girl rock band of the 70s, passed away this week after a long battle with lung cancer. Writing hits along with Joan Jett (who would later go on to achieve even greater fame with her Blackhearts), The Runaways produced popular songs like Cherry Bomb and Born To Be Bad.

Through the late 70s they could be seen alongside groups like Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

It's important to reflect on people like West, her dreams of bringing girls into the rock and roll inspired countless numbers of females to take this daring step.
