Last Minute Christmas Gifts

We’ve all been there—it’s only a few days until Christmas, and suddenly you remember that you haven’t bought your cousin’s brother’s sister’s aunt’s gift yet. Or, you know, your sister’s. Either way, you’re panic stricken, at a loss for what you could possibly throw together now. It’s a common problem during the holidays. Most of us are busy with school, finals, work, and so many other things, that it’s surprising we even remembered it’s the holiday season, let alone to buy gifts. You’re certainly not alone.
Check out the list of last minute Christmas gifts below, and panic no more.
1. A DIY spa day
Have you seen these things on Pinterest? Basically, you take a mason jar (or any other cute receptacle) and fill it with spa day activities, like nail polish, toe separators, and lotion. This is great for anyone on your list, since everyone loves a little pampering.
2. Fuzzy socks
Along with a spa day kit, fuzzy socks are another universally loved product. You can even find some with cutesy holiday themes, or get those old-school toe socks. They’ll love these for the nostalgia and comfy factors.
3. A gift card plus home card
Gift cards are the ultimate last minute gift. And while they can come off as seeming totally un-thoughtful, with a little extra time, you can make them special. Get them one towards a place you know they love, rather than a generic one. Put a personal note with it, like “good for 5 grande coffees!” And don’t forget the card!
4. Baked goods
Even if you aren’t a baker, this can still be a great idea. Bake a batch of holiday themed cookies or treats (even those pull-apart ones with the little trees), put them in a colored cellophane bag, and tie with a peppermint stick. Super cute, super easy.
5. Book
Books are my favorite gifts to receive, so I may be a little biased, but they can be great for everyone, really! If you know what genre they like, try getting the newest buzzed about book, or pick a new and/or obscure title from a beloved author. If you have no idea, get your friend Amy Poehler’s new book, Yes Please. It’s a definite crowd-pleaser that everyone will love! PS. My favorite book to gift is The Book Thief, which anyone with a heart will love.
Ultimately, it really is the thought that counts. Most people will be happy to just know that you thought of them, even if it was at the last minute. Hand them your gift with a smile, and it’s essentially guaranteed that they will feel the holiday spirit.
