Short and Sweet

Keep your number of resolutions to a minimum. If you make too many, you might get overwhelmed and be unable to keep up with all of them. Stick to a few so you can focus your time and energy.

It’s All About You

Make sure that what your resolutions are targeting something that you personally want to change. If you try to fix something just because other people want you to, your heart won’t be in it and you won’t be able to stick with it. You’re making these resolutions for you.

Break It Up

Break any larger goals into steps. Smaller chunks will make the bigger goals seem less intimidating and easier to achieve. Reaching these little milestones will keep you motivated, make the bigger goal more attainable and make you less likely to back down.

Write It Down

Write a list of your resolutions. Putting them down on paper makes you more likely to remember them and stick to them. Put the list somewhere that’s clearly visible, like on a sticky note on your mirror or on your fridge, so that you are reminded of them daily.

Spread the Word

Tell someone else about your resolutions. By keeping your friends updated on your progress, they can make sure you’re sticking to your goals and help keep you on track. They can also motivate you when you feel discouraged. You might even find a partner who will work towards your goal with you.

Treat Yourself

Give yourself a reward when you achieve a resolution or part of a goal. Knowing that there is something positive waiting for you if you keep it up will make you more likely to follow through and encourage you when your resolve starts to waiver.

Good luck!
