It’s official. The Twilight Saga‘s New Moon has become the #1 pre-sell in Fandango‘s 10 year history. Of course, this is probably no surprise given the hype leading up to this film – just look at our coverage on this website. Still, this is quite a significant event for only a second film in a saga. It is a truth universally acknowledged that most Twilight fans know that midnight showings will be sold out, so they all probably went online to secure the safety of their opening night seats, even if it means camping out with tents while doting capes, fangs and their new Nordstrom gear.

To put it all in perspective, here are the top five presales on Fandango.com:
1 – New Moon
2 – Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
3 – Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
4 – The Dark Knight
5 – Twilight

One can definitely be sure that the opening weekend box office numbers will be big…very big. Another inevitable truth? Theaters all over the country are going to need to find a way to keep showing the film for all Twilight fans to get a chance to see this next installment. It’s certain that there will be several midnight showings per theatre and even showings past midnight in many locations. What happens after that will probably be a mighty big mess as well.
