I’m sure by now we’ve all heard about 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears, the younger sister of singer Britney Spears, and how she has announced that she is pregnant. It’s not so much that she’s a teen mother-to-be that is so scandalous, but that she is a popular role model for tweens and younger girls who watch her Nickelodeon show, Zoey 101. Mothers are afraid that she might convince some of their daughters that teen pregnancy is okay, going against typical American family morals.

The father of Jamie Lynn’s child is supposedly on again, off again boyfriend Casey Aldridge. However, rumor has it that 19-year-old (was 18 when the child would have been conceived) Aldridge is not the father. Rather, a producer of Zoey 101 would face statutory rape charges if he truly fathered the child, so Aldridge is being paid to be the “fall guy” and keep his mouth shut. Supposedly, Aldridge is currently in a relationship with another girl and is not looking to get back together with Jamie Lynn.

Oh Jamie Lynn. If this is true, why would this have been a smart choice? Being a pregnant teen star is one thing – after all, famous people are people too and allowed to make mistakes. But consciously having sex with a man reportedly old enough to be your grandfather? Now that, as a famous public figure, is a secret just begging to be leaked to the media. It’s just like those celebrities who make private sex tapes (Paris Hilton, anyone?) and then are absolutely distraught when the tapes are leaked to the media. You’re a famous person. People have jobs looking for dirt on you. Something like this is bound to come up.
