By Megan O’Connell, Student at UW – Platteville
Whether you have short breaks in between classes or you’re always looking for a night time study snack, I experimented with some quick and yummy snacks you can enjoy in the comfort of your dorm room.
I hope you enjoy these tasty treats and that they help you make healthy snacking decisions. If you have a favorite dorm room snack, leave a comment below or tweet us @UniversityChic!
Bagel Bites:
All you need for these filling snacks is mini bagels, pizza sauce and cheese. Spread the sauce on your bagel and top with some cheese and microwave them for about 45 seconds. TIP: I use mozzarella cheese.
Triscuits & Sliced Cheese:
Whenever I would visit my friend Tommi in high school she would always make this yummy snack, and it works extremely conveniently as a snack in the dorms! All you need to do is cut a slice of your favorite cheese into little rectangles and put them on a Triscuit cracker. TIP: You could get creative with this and try different cheese flavors. Try mozzarella cheese with grape tomato slices and fresh basil.
PB&J Wrap:
It sounds a little weird at first, but I promise it’s delicious! Smother a flour or corn tortilla with peanut butter and jelly, roll it up and enjoy. TIP: Try adding fresh fruit for a delicious addition.
Veggie Pita:
Who doesn’t love pta bread and who doesn’t love cream cheese? Spread cream cheese on a piece of pita bread and top with some chopped vegetables. This snack is so easy and so delicious!
Yogurt Tarts:
These tarts are perfect to have as a snack or make a big batch of them and take them to a mixer or family function! All you need is small graham cracker crusts (you can buy these in six packs in the baking aisle) and a container of your favorite yogurt. Spoon your yogurt into the graham cracker crust and ta-da! TIP: Top with whipped cream and fresh fruit for a yummy and cute addition.
