Trend Report: Spring Scarves

Spring is in the air, and you’ve got your sundresses, denim cut-offs, tanks galore, and even a romper or two. But what about a scarf?

Yup, scarves are for spring and even for summer. A thin, light scarf can be the perfect complement to an otherwise simple warm-weather outfit, adding a shot of color to a plain dress and dressing up casual shorts. Not to mention an extra layer will keep you warm from air-condition blasts of shops and the office (you are interning, aren’t you?).

The key is to keep it light, soft, and colorful. Take a cue from Rachel Bilson and Anne Hathaway— stick to linen or cotton, and strike a contrast in a fun print! Our favorites:

– Considering their hippie 70s vibe, Lucky Brand is a great go-to for light and loose scarves. Go Western in the Band Together Scarf ($55) or take it back to 1969 with Don’t Tie Me Down’s dip-dyed print ($59.50).

– It may be the Emporium of Prep, but Abercrombie & Fitch also boasts great boho scarves in vibrant colors. With a mix of greens, blues, and browns, the Vintage Lightweight Scarf will match anything and everything ($44).

– For a floral posing as a leopard print, check out Old Navy’s Lightweight Floral Print Scarf in brown combo. The neutral tones will blend perfectly with any outfit, and you certainly can’t beat the price ($12.50).
