Trend Report: Spring Showers Bring Cute Raincoats and Wellies

This season’s fashion trends have definitely let us know that spring is here. We’re seeing pastels, embroidery, and and bright bold prints on everything from skirts and sundresses to cardigans. But, just because Mother Nature has brought spring showers, we shouldn’t have to sacrifice this season’s unbearably cute fashion trends. So what can you wear instead of your college hoodie and winter boots to stay dry? Raincoats and wellies, of course!

While not necessarily common pieces of a spring wardrobe, there is a right way to wear them. For instance, you don’t want your spring raincoat to look too heavy or dark like a winter jacket.  Using this season’s trends –  pastels, bolds, and prints – will create a light and airy look. The right spring coat can be the perfect finish to the rule of three (that is, never leave the house without at least 3 pieces!). Boots can have the same effect as coats. Boots in leather, fur, or heavy texture look more dramatic and can seem a bit out of place when worn in spring. Lucky for us, boots are coming in  super-cute prints that can be worn with that new fabulous sundress you couldn’t resist splurging on

Nordstrom has a huge selection of spring raincoats, most of which are classic, timeless trenches (the coat of the season). A coat should be an investment piece especially if you live in Florida or North Carolina where it seems to never stop raining in the spring. Nordstrom’s has trenches in brights and pastels ranging from $118-$138. Check them all out by clicking here.  On a tight budget? Check out Target’s website here. There are a ton of cute coats for under $50!

When looking for a cute pair of wellies, look for the new Kate Spade (knee-high platforms), Hunter Women’s (large color selection), and Burberry (super cute plaids) rain boots that recently came out. You can get them at Bloomingdales for under $200 dollars. Click here to take a glance. Again, don’t hesitate to look at Target! They have a large variety of prints that are perfect for any spring outfit for under $25! Come on now, you KNOW you want to look: check it out here.
