Trend Report: Statement Belts
A belt can make an old outfit look totally new and of-the-moment. I have a stash of belts (stretchy or leather, black or brown, thin or wide -it doesn’t matter) that I use to spice up everything from my favorite casual jean cut-off and to my privte collection of little black dresses and heels.
Ready to make an investment in a statement belt of your own? Check out some of my super-cute picks!
This leather hip belt, available at Free People boutiques and online, is perfect for jeans and a blouse, or a flowy summer skirt and a tank. It matches almost everything, and you can get SO much use out of its $88 dollar price tag.
Buy a belt in a funky color! You can make a plain white or cream colored shift dress totally new by throwing on a belt in an unexpected color. This belt from Nordstrom is $14, and comes in classic black and brown, but also in teal and purple.
Looking for something a bit more luxe? This $45 belt from GUESS is super-cutesy, but it definitely makes a statement. Pair the gray with a neutral tank-type dress, or try the pink version with white eyelet.
Get ready to to get funky! This crazy feathered belt from bebe is the wildest thing I could find. I think wearing it with plain black or white dress is your best bet — anthing else would make more than just a statement (as in “OMG! Ever heard of LESS is more, girlfriend?!?”). Try it for $39 if you’re feeling extra adventurous.
