Trend Report: Studded Sandals

While feminine accents and girly ruffles seem to run rampant in today’s fashion world, there is one trend that definitely puts a spin on the traditional: studded sandals and accessories. Whether you’re over the flowery prints of summer, or you’re just looking to try something new and different, the studded summer sandal is perfect for adding a little bit of spice to your typically sweet outfit.

Now I’m not going to lie- I am the ultimate girly girl, and this trend always seemed as though it was made for someone else with a little bit more of drama. Despite my hesitation, I decided to give it a whirl- and believe me, it was worth it. After trying on a few different styles I wasn’t in love with, I found Cynthia Vincent’s Studded Sandal at Target. This sandal is super comfortable and comes in a variety of colors (including pink!). Plus, it’s absolutely affordable on my college budget and didn’t take me too far out of my fashion comfort zone.

For those of you who are looking for a little bit more of an extreme studded style, check out Steve Madden’s Riskki high heels. While it’s a little bit of a splurge, it is definitely eye-catching and will be sure to attract attention. Whether paired with a cute dress or skinny jeans, these are perfect for a night out with the girls or if you’re headed to a concert downtown. If you’re more interested in flats, try Madden’s Genevaa gladiator sandals in Denim Fab, which will give you all of the style without all of the height. These are perfect for more low-key, casual events where you still want to look your best.

Looking for the ultimate studded outfit? Start out with Alloy’s Aida Knit Dress and accessorize with Jessica Simpson’s Escape Studs Satchel and Forever 21’s Studded Leatherette Thong Sandals. The black accessories add a rocker vibe to an otherwise girly outfit, while the detailing on the neckline of the dress brings everything together. Plus, the look easily converts from day to night depending on your makeup and hairstyle.

So whether you’ve been loyal to this fad from the beginning or you’re just starting out, there’s definitely a new trend on the block- and it’s got something very chic to offer everyone.
