Trend Report: Summer’s Sassiest Nail Colors
School’s finally out, you’ve ditched your books, and now it’s time to let go of those dull gray nails that were oh-so-trendy for spring. Hot weather time is finally here! Along with bikinis, sizzling sunshine, melting popsicles, and beach side bashes, nothing says summer like a brightly polished set of lacquered nails. This season, feel free to pass on that pink and opt instead for some bold blues, pretty purples, and tangy oranges hues.
Ocean Kissed: Navy blue nails have been around for several seasons now, but this time around the hot shades are lighter hues, like Essie’s Turquoise & Caicos (pictured) and Lapis of Luxury, both $8 from the brand’s new Resort collection. Another fierce option is Zoya’s Robyn, $7, which offers you the perfect robin’s egg blue.
Sexy Sunsets: Pink is always a go-to for nails, but if you want a neutral that’s less predictable, try shades of purple. Whether you paint on a light lavender (like Essie’s Main Squeeze, $8), a vibrant fuchsia (like Deborah Lippmann’s Between the Sheets, $16), or rich plum (like OPI’s Pamplona Purple, $8.50), you can’t go wrong.
Ray of Sunshine: The key to rocking orange on your digits is picking fun shades that look like they came straight out of a crayon box. Want to tone it down? Lighter varieties like peachy coral and soft mandarin are more feminine and elegant. Essie’s Tart Deco polish, $8, OPI’s Hot and Spicy, $8.50, and Jancyn by Zoya, $7, are all great options.
