Tupac, Muse, Added to Vatican Playlist

We’re filing this one under the  “Are you kidding me?” category for the week. According to CNN.com, the Vatican recently published an ultimate playlist on its official MySpace page. While the list includes several songs that might be deemed old-OLD school (like Mozart and traditional hyms), some surprises do pop up like Tupac‘s “Changes,” and Muse‘s latest single, “Uprising.” So far, the list has garnered over 4.5 million hits.

“The genres are very different from each other, but all these artists share the aim to reach the heart of good minded people,” the Vatican writes.

The list was put together by Father Giulio Neroni, the artistic director of church publisher St Paul’s Multimedia. He’s the same person responsible for the Vatican’s recent Alma Mater album, which included Gregorian chants, prayers, and classical music with the the voice of Pope Benedict XVI speaking in five languages (Go DJ Giulio! Go!).
