UChic Hot List: ServiceVote Challenge

Youth Service America, an international nonprofit resource which is committed to increasing the quality and quantity of volunteer opportunities for young people, is seeking to engage those over 18 in the political process with the ServiceVote Challenge (www.ServiceVote.org).

With volunteering and voting on the rise among young people, ServiceVote seeks to challenge them to address the critical issues they care about through community service, electoral and political action.

Here's how it works: you commit to addressing an issue that you care about (health care, education, national security, etc.) by developing an action plan including community service, electoral participation, and political engagement. In return, ServiceVote.org will provide you with up-to-date news and info on the 2008 election and the defining issues, opportunities for dialogue and peer interaction about your action plan through a discussion forum and integration of social networking websites, and multiple tools and resources to take action through service, in the election, and in the policy process.
