U Chic Approved: Dermaflage

Dermaflage is a makeup company that was founded to help you fill in all sorts of scars.

I tried it out and discovered it is quite good at covering up scars, as can be seen in the picture below. With a little Dermaflage and a bit of powder makeup, I was able to get rid of a scratch on my arm that I’d gotten a little while ago.

If you have problems with acne scarring or general gashes in your skin, this product will probably help you immensely. I definitely recommend this for its purpose, which is filling in those pesky scar marks.

So, what comes in your Dermaflage starter kit?

  • 1 bottle of Primer
  • 1 texture pad
  • 1 kit of tools with a mixing stick, precision application tool and spatula
  • 2 Dermaflage applicators

I was excited to try this product, and while I love it for some occasions, I don’t think that it is viable as an everyday makeup solution. If you have deep scars and cuts in your skin, I would highly recommend the use of Dermaflage, but with a hefty $50 price tag for a starter kit, I cannot recommend this as an everyday makeup.

The reason I wouldn’t recommend this product for everyday use is quite simple — it takes some time to get used to. At first, you will more than likely be super heavyhanded and use too much of the product, and since the starter kit comes with one pad, the makeup will probably become solid before you can move on to the next piece.

Tips about using Dermaflage from an amateur:

  1. Prime before you mix. The first step to using Dermaflage is to prime the skin you are about to cover. Prime your skin before you even start to mix because once the Dermaflage leaves the tube, it is already on its way to becoming solid.
  2. Be patient. Dermaflage is harder makeup to learn how to use than most, but after you get the hang of it, you can Dermaflage like a pro. You might go through quite a bit of the product to begin with, but soon you will be great.
  3. Visit Dermaflage on YouTube. Dermaflage’s YouTube page has a lot of great information on Dermaflage and its application. When I was beginning to get frustrated with learning Dermaflage, I looked to its YouTube page to find out more information about the application of the product and learned a lot.
